Recycling is one of the most common of all environmentally beneficial activities. Schools play a significant role in the education of tomorrow’s consumers and decision-makers. 3R project tries to involve pupils, parents, staff and local society and authorities in reducing the amount of waste produced by our home, school and town, to give them a broader perspective and started thinking about their responsibilities to both society and the environment.
The principal aims of the project “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” was to build new relationship among young people in Europe, to improve the attainment of young people, particularly those at risk of early school leaving and to focus on the local environment, pollution, recycling waste and green thinking.
In the project, there were involved students from 12 to 18 years, teaching staff, parents and local society in many different activities, like research, observations, experiments – several interesting experiments took place within the project, such as experiments using water.
Activities in the project promoted creativity, collaboration, equality, partnership and cooperation with local authorities. The project motivated both students and staff alike. Students were part of the planning, implementation and evaluation, which in turn produced a more significant impact on students’ competencies.
The project products can be used by others interested in the topic, even after its end: teachers lessons plan, a website with all the materials which are excellent examples for other schools, to work in the same direction.
